Founded by Dr. Walter H. Janke and his wife, Lalita Mascarenhas-Janke. The Jankes consider themselves blessed to be in a position of helping others by the sharing of their time, talents and treasures. The Jankes like to be directly involved with the organizations they support. They work on strengthening and sustaining organizations that make a difference in the lives of marginalized women and girls, abused children as well as homeless people.
According to the Jankes, it is a great feeling to know that you did something for someone and that someday, they too will do the same for others, because they have personally experienced the power of compassion and caring. People learn by watching others. For the Jankes, helping people rise from hopelessness to hopefulness is a gift that keeps on giving.
Established in 2007, The Walter and Lalita Charitable Foundation is a 501 (c)(3) committed to collaborating with and providing philanthropic grants to other 501 (c)(3) non-profit organizations.
